My Role as Advisor:
My primary role as your advisor is to be your advocate. If you are struggling in class, having any problems at school, or finds yourself in some sort of difficult situation, I want to be there to make sure your needs are met and that the course of action we take best serves you. Feel free to contact me to help them with any problems they are having in school.I am also the first contact between home and school so I will be in frequent contact with your parents. I am happy to work with the teachers and administration here on your behalf.
What is Advisory?
Our advisory is a small group that meets once per week on Wednesday afternoons. This cohort will stay together all four years and often advisory groups begin to feel like a family within the school community. In 9th grade, our focus is on team building and working with the Habits of Heart and Mind. The first Wednesday of the month in advisory is college preparation. 9th graders will focus on personality traits and interests. 10th graders will focus on exploring career interests. 11th graders will learn what majors correspond to their career interests and research colleges. 12th graders will have on going support throughout the college and scholarship process. These meetings are for students to build a solid foundation in understanding their options after high school whether it be pursuing college or other life events. Advisory is also a place where we take the time to check in with each other, discuss school and community issues and build strong relationships.
